We are Tajik women – the first female tour guides in the Pamirs – leading adventurers through the breathtaking homeland we know by heart. Mothers at home, trailblazers on the peaks, we prove every day that no summit is too high for a woman to conquer, even in a traditional region bordering Afghanistan where old perceptions of women’s roles still linger.
OXUS is as much about empowering Tajik women as it is about preserving the fragile Pamir environment and sharing our deep passion for the mountains and the outdoors.

Meet the Team
We, Safina Shohaydarova and Furough Shakarmamadova, are passionate pioneers of eco-tourism in Tajikistan. Through our initiative, Women Rock in the Pamirs, we empower local women by training them to become professional mountain guides, enabling them to earn income and thrive during the tourism season.
Building on this vision, we founded OXUS, a tour company that offers these trainees real-world guiding opportunities. Our mission is to provide unforgettable experiences in the Pamir Mountains while fostering sustainable careers in eco-tourism. Discover our tours and join us in transforming lives!
